This system is designed to offer the performance of flash with the cost advantage of traditional disks, thanks to its rich data services. Main Features
- Hybrid Models and Disk Carrier Support: Hybrid models support two types of carriers: 12×3.5” and 25×2.5”. Flash-only models support only 25×2.5”. Each unit has two Storage Processors (SPs) on the back, each with two configurable ports and two module slots that can hold up to six different modules. This flexibility allows you to tailor the system to your specific needs, whether you prioritize capacity or performance.
- FAST and FAST VP Technology: Dell EMC Unity hybrid models are the only ones that support FAST (Fully Automated Storage Tiering) and FAST VP (FAST Virtual Provisioning) technology, which facilitates tiered storage and high-frequency data accessibility. FAST enables frequently accessed data to be automatically moved to faster storage tiers (such as SSDs), while less frequently accessed data is moved to slower, more cost-effective tiers (such as HDDs). FAST VP further optimizes this process by virtually provisioning storage to dynamically allocate resources as demand dictates.
