- Hybrid Models and Disc Carrier Support: Hybrid models support two types of carriers: 12×3.5″ and 25×2.5″. Flash-only models only support 25×2.5″. Each unit has two Storage Processors (SPs) on the back, each with two configurable ports and two module slots that can hold up to six different modules. This flexibility allows you to tailor the system to your specific needs, whether prioritizing capacity or performance.
- FAST and FAST VP Technology: Dell EMC Unity hybrid models are the only ones that support Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST) and FAST Virtual Provisioning (FAST VP) technology, which facilitates tiered storage and accessibility to high-frequency data. FAST allows frequently accessed data to be automatically moved to faster storage tiers (such as SSDs), while less-accessed data is moved to slower, more cost-effective tiers (such as HDDs). FAST VP further streamlines this process by virtually provisioning storage to dynamically allocate resources on demand.
