Dell EqualLogic systems use iSCSI through Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers. EqualLogic systems with 1 Gbit/s connections are PS4100, PS6100, and PS6200, while comparable systems with 10 Gbit/s Ethernet connections are PS4110, PS6110, and PS6210. There have been several previous generations, and as long as you update the software on your older systems, they will work with the latest models released.
This capability allows the Dell EqualLogic platform to be combined with up to 16 arrays per group. A group can combine different members, including, as mentioned, multiple generations of hardware, as well as different RAID types. In addition, the opportunity to have multiple options for different types and sizes of hard disk drives or solid-state drives means that the Dell EqualLogic array is quite attractive, especially when you take into account the total capacity you can create by combining multiple arrays per group.

The Dell EqualLogic PS4000 family offers a wide selection of entry-level storage systems and virtualized SANS with multiple drive combinations, from SATA/SAS drives for archival use, high-performance SAS drives for heavy workloads and a hybrid mix for multiple applications. The unit’s support ranges from 12 to 24 units. The PS4100 series connects to a PS4100 of the same family or another PS6100 of the parallel series.
Dell EMC PS6xxx Family Technical Specifications
The Dell EqualLogic PS6000 Series iSCSI SAN offers a variety of systems ranging from the smaller entry-level PS6100 16-drive system that connects to another PS6100 or a PS4100 model, to the PS6610 84-drive system that can virtually connect to 15 other SANS in the same family in 1 SAN group. The PS6000 series offers multiple drive options designed to cover the various workloads required for high performance, archiving, or a hybrid mix to meet the storage needs of small businesses to medium-sized multi-office businesses.
Dell EMC MD1xxx Technical Specifications
The PowerVault MD1000 Series provides cost-effective, cost-effective storage for direct attachment to a Dell-EMC server and also serves as an expansion to the MD3000 Series iSCSI SAN and Fiber SAN.
