Dell EqualLogic systems use iSCSI through  Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers. EqualLogic systems with 1 Gbit / s connections are PS4100, PS6100 and PS6200, while comparable systems with 10 Gbit / s Ethernet connections are PS4110, PS6110 and PS6210. There have been several previous generations, and as long as you update the software on your older systems, they will work with the latest models released.

This capability allows the Dell EqualLogic platform to be combined with up to 16 arrays per group. A group can combine different members, including, as mentioned, several generations of hardware, as well as different types of RAID. In addition, the opportunity to have multiple options for different types and sizes of hard drives or solid state drives means that the Dell EqualLogic array is quite attractive, especially when you consider the total capacity you can create by combining several arrays by group.

Dell EMC MD1xxx Technical Specifications

The PowerVault MD1000 series provides efficient cost-effective storage for direct connection to a Dell-EMC server and also serves as an expansion to the MD3000 series iSCSI SAN and Fiber SAN. Up to (8) MD1200 / MD1220 shelves can be directly connected to a compatible Dell server via the compatible PERC RAID controller card, allowing for scalable storage. Models include 12-, 24- and 84-unit enclosures.
