Powerful performance

Built on the Gen8 capabilities of the ProActive Insight architecture, the HPE BL660c Gen8 delivers improvements in performance, memory, networking, I/O, storage and management.

It supports up to four E5-4600 processors, up to four 10Gb FlexFabric ports with the Gen8 FlexibleLOM solution, and 1,0TB of Gen8 HP SmartMemory (SmartMemory uses less power but no performance impact) and comes with three PCIe expansion slots 3.0 (two x 16, one x 8).

The integrated Gen220 Smart Array P8i RAID controller supports HP Smart Storage and SmartDrive carrier, plus a wide selection of hot plug SAS, SATA, SAS SSD, and SATA SSD hard drives.

With all of this infrastructure in one box, you can handle virtualization, database, business processing, decision support, and HPC applications that demand more data.

3 . HP memory from previous generation servers is not qualified or warranted with this server. HP SmartMemory is required to realize the memory performance improvements and enhanced functionality listed in this document for Gen8. Click here for additional information about HP SmartMemory . LRDIMMs and RDIMMs are distinct memory technologies and cannot be mixed in one server. Depending on memory configuration and processor model, memory speed can run at 1600 MHz, 1333 MHz, or 1066 MHz.

4. FlexibleLOM options include 10Gb FlexFabric, 10Gb Flex-10, and 10Gb Ethernet. FlexFabric features require the use of an HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric module. The server supports one or two FlexibleLOMs, which must be identical. For pre-configured template configurations, two FlexibleLOMs are already included; no additional FLexibeLOM is added. For a Factory Integrated Template configuration with a FlexibleLOM, it is added in the HP Networking section of “Step 2” in the Factory Integrated Templates section. For a factory-integrated model configuration with two FlexibleLOMs, the second FlexibleLOM (albeit the same technology) is a different part number. The user must select the first FlexibleLOM in the HP Network “Step 2” section and select the second FlexibleLOM in the HP Network “Step 4” section.

5 . The HP Smart Array P220i includes 512MB of flash-based write cache (FBWC) with support for RAID 0 and 1 on pre-configured models and is optional on factory-integrated models. The HPE Smart Array P220i supports upgradeable firmware with recovery ROM. The HP Smart Array P220i supports two (2) small form factor (SFF) hot plug drive bays.

6 . The ProLiant BL660c Gen8 server includes the new HP SmartDrive carrier hot plug small form factor (SFF) for improved manageability and reduced maintenance errors. Previous generation HP server drives are not compatible with ProLiant BL660c Gen8 drive bays. Combining standard SAS drives with SSD SAS drives is supported by the server, but limits the RAID configuration to two separate RAID 0 volumes. Mixing other types of units is not supported.

7 . The above options are for integrated hypervisor virtualization environments that need a low-cost boot solution with the highest performance and reliability.
